Tennis Singles Strategy - Approach Shot

When hitting an approach shot, should you approach down the line or cross-court?

I advise my students that when hitting an approach shot, they hit down the line 90% of the time, always on the same half of the tennis court that you're on. The reason has to do with angles. By hitting down the line, you take away angles from your opponents. When hitting cross-court you create angles for your opponents to pass you. The only time I would tell a student to approach cross-court, is if he can hit a clean winner. Otherwise, go down the line, you'll thank me! :-)

If you would like to know more about this topic or how can it be applied to your own game, you can get in contact with me or book a one on one On-court private coaching session, I will be happy to help you achieve your Tennis Goals!
